A Peaceful way to spend Easter

Starting 9.30am Easter Friday 19 April to 11.30amTuesday 23 April

This is a silent residential/non residential meditation retreat that will be a combination of teachings and practice on Shamatha Meditation.  It is preferable that people who wish to attend have some meditation or retreat experience but not essential. The retreat will focus on the basic principles of training the mind in Shamatha meditation to create a relaxed, peaceful and contemplative countenance. The evening sessions will focus on the heart practices of the Four Immeasureables, Loving Kindness, Compassion, Joy and Equinimity. The retreat will commence at 9.30am Good Friday 19 April and finish on Tuesday 23 April at 11.30am, the costs will include all meals and accommodation.  All meals will be vegetarian.  Please bring a yoga mat if you have one as some of the sessions will be lying down.

Please be aware that a commitment to attend all sessions is expected of participants.

The retreat is suitable for anyone who wants to gain greater clarity of mind, increase their mindfulness and reduce the level of stress and tension in the mind and body. Whilst the teachings are derived from the Buddhist philosophy a commitment to Buddhism is not required.

The retreat will be facilitated by Venerable Rinchen who is the resident nun at the centre, she has been running meditation courses and retreats for over 14 years. Rinchen completed the 2 month silent Shamatha Retreat in Phuket in 2011 with Dr B Allan Wallace and several other shorter retreats under his guidance, Alan's book the Attention Revolution is recommended reading.
